Jerusalem, Israel --- Follow the Israel News Agency Pope Francis Visits Memorial To Terror Victims link to a video of Pope Francis with Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israel President Shimon Peres visiting a memorial to the Jewish and Christian victims of terrorism in Jerusalem, Israel.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, this afternoon (Monday, 26 May 2014), met with Pope Francis at the Notre Dame of Jerusalem Center and made the following remarks:

"We have hundreds of churches here in the Land of Israel, in Nazareth, Capernaum – and we maintain each one, not one stone has been moved.

We maintain the rights of Christians in the State of Israel. To my sorrow, this is not the case in many places in the Middle East. We respect Your Holiness's approach on religious tolerance; Israel maintains this tolerance."

Prime Minister Netanyahu added:

"We also hope that your call for tolerance, coexistence and an end to incitement, anti-Semitism and terrorism will be accepted by all of our neighbors. I would like to thank Your Holiness for your moving visit today to the memorial to the victims of terrorism.

If the incitement against the State of Israel ceases, along with the terrorism, there will be no need for the means that we have undertaken, such as the security fence, which has saved lives, thousands of lives. I long for the day in which Pope Francis' call to recognize the State of Israel, the right of the Jews to a state of their own, to live in security and peace, will be accepted by our neighbors. This will bring, if not peace on earth, then at least peace in this part of the earth."

Prime Minister Netanyahu gave Pope Francis an original 1698 drawing of the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem. The rare historical shows the main space of the church with the "Holy Sepulcher" in its original modest format (before it was destroyed by earthquakes and fires over the years). The print is by well-known Dutch artist Cornelis de Bruijn who visited the country in 1698. The back of the print, which is framed in the yellow/gold-and-white Vatican colors, bears the inscription "The interior of the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem, 1698" in Italian.

Netanyahu is the son of a revered rabbi, the brother of a war hero who died rescuing hostages at Entebbe. Netanyahu is a good man.

I object to anyone being addressed as “your holiness”. The Pope is not holy, there is no good man, not one, and all your righteousness is as filthy rags before the Lord.

For God’s sake, does anyone ever read the Bible?

Apparently, no, evidently, not.

"For God’s sake, does anyone ever read the Bible?"

Yeah. Some of us do. And there's a bunch you've apparently missed --- about "holy people":

Matthew 27:52
and the tombs broke open. The bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life.

Acts 9:13
“Lord,” Ananias answered, “I have heard many reports about this man and all the harm he has done to your holy people in Jerusalem.

Romans 1:7
To all in Rome who are loved by God and called to be his holy people : Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 1:2
To the church of God in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus and called to be his holy people , together with all those everywhere who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ—their Lord and ours:

2 Corinthians 1:1
Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, To the church of God in Corinth, together with all his holy people throughout Achaia:

Ephesians 1:1
Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, To God’s holy people in Ephesus, the faithful in Christ Jesus

Ephesians 1:18
I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people ,

Ephesians 3:5
which was not made known to people in other generations as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to God’s holy apostles and prophets.

Ephesians 3:18
may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people , to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ,

Colossians 3:12
Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

1 Thessalonians 5:26
Greet all God's people with a holy kiss.

2 Thessalonians 1:10
on the day he comes to be glorified in his holy people and to be marveled at among all those who have believed. This includes you, because you believed our testimony to you.

Philemon 1:5
because I hear about your love for all his holy people and your faith in the Lord Jesus.

I think Netanyahu was being polite, following protocol. Just like he would have called a king/prince his royal highness. It’s just a title to him. I know he does read the Bible, in fact he has Bible study sessions in the Prime Minister home!

Ben Tziyyon Netanhahu was a "revered rabbi?" First I've ever heard of it.

There’s a difference between calling God’s people as a whole holy or calling one isolated person his holiness. And you know it! But, like I’ve already said, Netanyahu used it as a title, not any different than calling a king his royal highness.

Dear Former Fetus,

Individuals are called good and holy, too:

Mark 6:20
because Herod feared John and protected him, knowing him to be a righteous and holy man.

Luke 2:25
Now there was a man in Jerusalem called Simeon, who was righteous and devout. He was waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was on him

Acts 6:5
This proposal pleased the whole group. They chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit;

Acts 10:22
The men replied, “We have come from Cornelius the centurion. He is a righteous and God-fearing man

Acts 11:24
He was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and faith,

The point here is not to quibble about a formal or diplomatic title ("your holiness," "your excellency," "your highness," "your eminence")...

... but to point out the unwiseness of pulling out one quote ("there is no good man, not one,") and pretending that there aren't many, many other verses which rightly honor good and holy people, both individually and collectively.

If you're going to pick out one verse, for heaven's sake don't latch onto one that's contradicted by 25 others.

Okay,

Herod beheaded John the Baptist so he could screw his daughter.

Simeon had the Holy Spirit on him.

There was Stephen and the Holy Spirit filled him through his faith.

Cornelius feared God—he was a man of faith.

He was a holy man full of the Holy Spirit.

There is not one good man, the words of God, not one. With God, there is salvation. Jesus is the Word, He was with God and He was God.

We are made in His image. I do not say that we are bereft of His goodness, or that we are not able to attain to salvation by faith, but Catholicism and the intercession of the saint, the Pope, the mariology, the statues, the veneration, the wearing of medals are wrong. Not in the Bible, not once, never mentioned, I am glad Paul wrote most of the New Testament.

Catholicism has almost everything wrong. They have only three things right, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. They do not deny the triune nature of God and for everything else they get wrong, the common Catholic believer does understand who God is.

They can rub their rosaries, they can pray to a “saint” to intervene, they can pray to Mary, they can do whatever they want.

God will sort it out. Not my job.

The Bible is replete with individuals whom God favored. For faith. And by their faith they were deemed righteous.

This whole environment of people massing to Vatican Square, this recent “canonization” of deceased popes, this “elevation” to “sainthood” by men wearing silly robes and hats is disgusting.

Do you know who the saints are? They are common everyday people, people who have believed on His name, and repented of their sins.

These are the saints. They do not require election by a bunch of old man in silly attire, they are saints named by God.

If you are a Christian, another name developed over time, you are already there.

God Bless You.

Every day. No one is made holy but by faith. The Bible is full of holy people, full of unholy people.

What is your point? We are free agents. We choose our faith in God, we pray and repent. We are not holy, we are made holy. But, we have to choose.

I am not a good man. People that tell me they are “basically good people” make me want to run away clutching my children and wallet.

Paul declared what a wretched man he was and he wrote most of the New Testament. He prayed release me from this body of death.

I am afraid of people who say they are good. I want to see people do good and know that their goodness is in faith and humility and in the sure hope they have in Jesus Christ—not their “goodness”.

I love you. May God Bless you. I pray to be not proud but to always look to my Savior for redemption. Alone I am already dead.

Your message here is like a compendium of uncomprehending cliches. I haven't the time to sort it all out --- where do people get all this nonsense, I often wonder: is there a wholesaler out there somewhere? --- but I do ask you to keep in mind the sensible, if alarming, probability that most of what you think you know about Catholicism isn't true.

Line upon line, precept upon precept.

I do thank you for the "I love you" and the "God bless you." I gratefully return such kindly sentiments.

But please refrain from putting down other people's Christian Faith when your actual knowledge about it is quite mistaken.

Like the song says, "Don't criticize what you can't understand."

And I will try to heed my own advice, knowing well my own limitations.

And I am painfully aware of my own limitations. So, God Bless and keep you. And, I do love you. We’ll meet someday, we may not know each other when we do—that is not important, we’ll be with our own Father, and He will call us His Sons and Daughters, and we will know Him because we will see Him as He is because we will be like Him.

I pray for this daily. And, I pray that everyone will come to know where they came from and Who is waiting to embrace them.

So, please Lord, God Bless us all and wait for everyone to enter into your salvation. Paul said, if I could take the blame and rescue my brothers and sisters I would. Paul grieved that so many of his Jewish brethren would not or could not see the Messiah. It broke his heart. He also knew that he was once just like them.

What that must have been on the Damascus Road. Saul became Paul and he under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit wrote all the letters that became the epistles.

That is breathtaking. It is beyond miraculous.

I have heard it said that all the heads in the church pews are grey. We are nearer to the end of life than we are to the beginning. We’re dying off.

In the age of silliness, Star Wars, Batman, Spiderman, cartoon creations, our children are ignorant.

Imagine a child, hearing of a supernatural being, a being of life, the author of all life, speaking the universe into existence.

Would that child not feel the awe of it? Spiderman?

All of us who love our Creator and appreciate what He did, knowing what He would do, before He did it, have to just fall down and cry out that we know what Jesus said, God with us, Immanuel, “there is no greater love than than a man who lays down his life for his brothers”. God, incarnate, called us his brothers, He said when people told him his mother and brothers and sisters were outside waiting to see Him, God, Jesus Christ said, “these are my mothers, my brothers and my sisters”.

That should just blow away anything you could ever read, learn or know.

It blows me away daily. I am not a good man. But, I have a Savior who was and he paid my debt in full.
