My people, on both sides have already paid... with their lives during the period of 1861-1865 and the 12 years of radical Reconstruction of the South (theft of private property, lands, businesses and commodities under the Union guns of an occupation that was never in Lincoln’s plans).
Lends one to think— qui bono? with Lincoln’s death. The profiteers, carpetbaggers and much else in human misery who had no regard for any human life, white or black— this was the result.
Some day someone should go to Boston and demand reparations for the Opium clipper ship trade and the death and misery that brought on the US. Those great underwriters of the liberal facade of today.

if such plan would take effect, it would once and for all end any claims on racial grievances by African-Americans for slavery and the other post-slavery laws that infringed on the rights of African-Americans.

Laura’s retort should have been, “Dude, that was, like, 150 years ago.”

Several of my distant relatives lost their families and fortunes during the Civil War. I believe they would have considered any debt demanded by this affirmative action ‘tard, paid in full.

Dig up those old slave owners and shake them ‘til some money comes out. Me and my ancestors never owned any slaves.

If they want reparations so badly perhaps they should petition the African nations that enslaved and sold their ancestors. They were the first to profit from slavery.
And probably profited the most.

the word
reparation is derived from a Latin word meaning to restore or repair. So if you want to get literal and borderline Aspergery about it, real reparations would consist of returning African Americans to roughly the state theyd be in if theyd never been plucked from their ancestral homelands. If ex-Africans have truly been damaged by being transported to America and increasing their numbers a hundredfold in the process, it would stand to reason that theyd currently be doing better in Africa.

Of course, if their ancestors had never been brought here, they would not be the wealthy and celebrated people they are today.

I don’t have to pay. I invoke my “white privilege”.
