Strange stuff, if you watch the whole three minutes, you can’t help but want to know more about this.
Must have raised it from a tiny chick.
No kidding, that was one of the reasons the full video was worth watching, it clearly was real, yet you know that if this walk is done often enough, at some point a mishap will happen.
That’s very sweet. He is a perfect companion, and does not wander off. The local rice bowls probably allow both man and bird to dine at the table.
That reminds me of last week at the VA hospital in San Francisco. I saw an elderly wheelchair bound man entering the facilty. On the left arm of the wheelchair there sat a huge White Cockatiel. The bird was very clean and very calm. I don’t know what the plan of action would be if somebody’s companion dog should jump at the bird. The bird seemed low maintenance, not causing any trouble. Everybody seemed to love it.
OTOH, it looks like they go for a walk very regularly and so far, no problem!
It reminded me of Emily Dickenson:
“A bird came down the walk:
He did not know I saw;
He bit an angle-worm in halves
And ate the fellow, raw.”
There are so many near misses, that I wonder the risks of doing it over and over.
So was I but life gets even weirder.

I’d be worried about cats, dogs and other predatory birds.

That little guy is too adorable to risk.
Years ago I read about a fellow who rescued a hawk that had lost a wing flying into a power line. He nursed it back to health but, of course it couldn’t fly anymore. With the help of a leather shoulder patch, he taught the hawk to hold on while the guy would go out roller blading. The hawk would lean into the wind and extend its one good wing and soar again.

Looks like the bird has imprinted on the man - probably had him since the bird was a chick.
People expect birds to fly away as they approach, so I hope there isn’t an unfortunate accident
If he takes that walk through that traffic with it everyday it won’t last long.
Saw one the other day with a lady on a small scooter and her bird flying along with her. Sometimes it would land on the handle bars while she was
moving. Then it would take off again. Looked like a Love bird. Pretty cool.

Apparently you’ve never seen a broad headed skink. They get 12 inches and we have them in Texas. Impressive monsters, though a bit rare and very shy. There is at least two of them were I work in the woodlands, TX. I’m still trying to catch one.
I’m looking up this rollerblading hawk.
