Once again, I’m wondering what in the world has happened to Chris Matthews. I mean, this guy has said some horrible stuff about the Tea Party and if anyone has eve looked down at Tea Party candidates, it’s Matthews.
But here he is on Ronan Farrow’s show, chastising him looking down his nose at ‘tea party people’:
“This looking down our noses at tea party people has got to stop. They have a message, they’re as American as any liberal is, and they’re really angry of the failure of the system.
We can’t control the deficit, we can’t control the debt, we can’t control the border. What is government good at?”
Dude. He then goes on to praise Dave Brat, talking about how great he sounds.
I’m bewildered at this point.

Forget politics. I wonder about his sanity (no I don’t think he is literally insane). But he is inconsistent and ALL over the map on just about everything. He is unwatchable not just for his politics but for his inability to maintain coherence and let anyone else speak.
I am convinced that in order to decide what he believes today he just throws a dart at a dartboard.
I’m wondering if he found Jesus and the rest of this was part of his newfound knowledge.
My theory is that at some point around 1999, someone kidnapped the Chris Matthews who used to rail against Bill Clinton night after night and talk about how disgusted he was with how Bill and Hillary were dealing with the Lewinsky scandal, and replaced him with a dogmatic, liberal robot. But perhaps now the old “blue collar Democrat” Matthews escaped and got back on the air somehow.
Once upon a time, long, long ago, he was a fairly sane Democrat. Maybe he has realized just how OTT he had become.
Or maybe he’s just trying to salvage the network and his ratings.

We know he learned his politics under Tip O’Neill as a speechwriter I believe, so we know he’s a liberal at heart. That said, he knows political trends and can sense a Democrat shellacking in November. He’s trying to keep himself relevant so my guess is this awakening to the Tea Party is being orchestrated to separate himself from the other lefties in the media.

Apparently after five years he thinks he can start thinking independently again.
Of course if Hillary gets elected he'll have to prove he isn't a sexist by praising her, too and he'll have another five years of sounding ridiculous.
