My ticket is supposed to be $158. However, they sent me a $263 fine. The latter fine is ONLY if you either haven't paid the $158 ticket within 30 days or haven't asked for a court date within that time. I got a printout of my traffic tickets and this one was issued on March 27. The previous one was issued in 2011 for a different matter and it has already been settled.

What I think is going on is that the Red Light Camera companies aren't making near the money they wanted. I guess they thought they would end up with hundreds of cameras in this county but got only a relative handful. Therefore I suspect they are padding the fines. I am going to claim my fine was in "error" (although I suspect padding) and see if I can get it tossed on that basis. After all I didn't have the opportunity to send the CORRECT payment via mail. It was either pay the INCORRECT fine or go to court.
