Good to hear you are happy with it!
My twins go to a private school here in Virginia that costs about 5k each. Worth every penny but love to get it free.
It’s not “free.” Taxpayers must pay for it...
My grandson goes to a Basis Charter School in DC.
He began at the school in 4th grade the year the school opened. Basis offered summer school and other aids to get all the beginning students up to speed so they would all start with similar advantages. He too took Algebra in 5th grade.
That sounds great. One of my kids went to BASIS — one of the schools ranked in the top 5 or top 10 in the nation, year after year, by US News and World Report and Newsweek.
I don’t want people to get the wrong idea about when you said your child tested into Algebra I. Any child at any level can go to BASIS. It’s not like a child can “fail” the test and be rejected or you have to get to a certain level to go to BASIS. You don’t. They test you simply to SEE what level your child is at. Mine in fact was very very low testing in for math, but with her hard work, my encouragement, and some extra help from math teachers, she caught up pretty quickly. It was wonderful. It’s high achieving, with hard work, but without pressure.
