Consider the long term consequences of these scandals.

Keeping in mind the government runs on precedent, and not the constitution, it is easy to predict our slide into single party tyranny. We may be rid of the tyrant in 2017, but the tyranny will remain.

Unless at least a of couple political appointees end up in prison, two new precedents will be established.

First, executive agencies will increasingly be used to silence political opposition. 2012 was nothing. Expect wholesale destruction of the lives of Tea Party leaders, their organizations and supporters. If conservative donors haven't gotten the word, they will soon.

Second, the executive branch assumption of congressional duties and powers will accelerate. The Senate has no institutional pride, and the House isn't far behind. It will not be long before the American Congress is as powerful as the Roman Senate of the Emperors.

We are witnessing the long term effects of consolidated government in DC, made certain by the 17th Amendment.

Division of Powers.
Pre-1913: States and the federal government they created.
Post 1913 to 1932: Three branches in DC.
FDR to Clinton: Democrat and Republican Parties.
Bush 43 to Obama: Transition to Uniparty government.
Post Obama: Uniparty tyranny.

They will be crying when the people revolt against them.
