Gun registration serves no useful purpose except to allow government agents to more easily confiscate guns.

First NC allows students to pray in school, and now this. I guess I know where my next move will take me!

Like many antique laws, this one acted as an old, out of date, rusty landmine, waiting for the unsuspecting victim in just the wrong circumstances to go off.

I've always been of the opinion that all laws should be sunsetted x amount of years. Any law over 100 years old would sunset in five years. Over 50 in 10. The pols would be so busy defending some favs they'd be too busy making new ones.

Although a bit different, The government got Capone for tax evasion, not his crimes. So, like that rusty landmine, they do come in handy to nail some oily criminal - or anyone who isn't subservient enough.
