Here are the problems...
1) Money is withheld from paychecks and joe sixpack gets a “refund”... What’s the problem?
2) 50%+ don’t pay taxes... why should they care?
3) The top 5% have lawyers & tax accountants and trusts and ... and... and...
4) Lobbyists “buy” politicians to manipulate tax code in favor of certain corporations and individuals...

The 2nd American Revolution is rapidly approaching. The political class, if for no other reason than self preservation, had better wise up.... FAST!
We the People are rapidly tiring of the shenanigans in D.C.; and the Tree of Liberty is about to be refreshed with the blood of Tyrants and Patriots.

You initiated a policy to tolerate the Marxist-Alinsky radicals and let them rant; not only has it not ceased but was constantly augmented by decades of infiltration and indoctrination. Our present system has been elected by We the People.
A large sub-set of The People, myself among them, are very unhappy with the choices The People as a whole have made.
Yet the American system I want to conserve is based on the idea of rule of, by and for The People.
How do we rebel against the majority of The People and remain true to the principles of the American Revolution and Constitution? If we were to violently overthrow the existing system in an attempt to reboot the Constitution, is there any reason at all to believe The People would not vote to bring back something resembling our present system of entitlements? If we deny the franchise to some large percentage of The People because they wouldn't vote "right," in what sense is our new government by "consent of the governed?"
What I'm attempting to point out is that one simply cannot rebel against The People in the name of The People.
The only possible solution is to reinvigorate the ideals of the Revolution among The People by cultural activities and education. Unfortunately, the trend in this area has for 50 years been in the opposite direction, and if anything the speed of movement is increasing.
Let’s be brutally honest here. The ideals of governance laid out in the U.S. Constitution simply don’t work for a lot of people — maybe even the vast majority of them. This country was founded by Anglo-Saxon Protestants who fully understood the necessity of order, self-control and personal responsibility in a free nation. Take any one of those three things away, and you’ve got a challenging environment for governance based on the ideals of personal freedom, liberty and limited government. Take all three of them away, and you’ve got a disaster on your hands.
Revolt is coming.
With a GOP majority in the Senate and House this fall, the first order of business should be to impeach Obama. After the likely November blood bath at the pols and Obama increasingly ruling by decree I would think that more than a few Democrats would be voting to remove him from office. A President Biden would be another disaster, but at least the Marxist would no longer be POTUS.
All the branches of the government are determined to increase their influence. "Checks and balances" is just shorhand for which branch gets to rule that particular issue.
The call for the top earners to rebel is risible! They are the least likely group to rebel. Generally wedded to the idea of "either we obey all the laws, or there is anarchy!"

The withholding is particularly insidious. No one really notices how much money they owe, and they “get free money” at the end, much of the time.
I guarantee if people did not automatically have money withheld from their pay, they’d throw a fit when they never get money from the gov but have to cough up $10,000 in one chunk.

I think Heinlein had the right idea in Starship Troopers: Only those who served honorably in the military had the franchise.

Re withholding: I’ve been saying the same thing for years. If people touched the money first, and then had to pay, taxes would be a LOT lower.
While this was instituted under FDR, the genius who came up with the idea was Milton Friedman (of all people), who was a young research economist. It was enacted during WW II, when the government was desperate to raise money. Milton himself said years later that he’d repeal it if he could.
