The suspect was not apparently employed and it is very unusual for a person to be carrying a gun, which are rare in Japan. The Ikebukuro district of Tokyo also has a reputation for gang activities and has a relatively high proportion of gambling and sex businesses.In Japan, only the police and criminals have handguns.
This dude is not going to enjoy the rest of his life.
And the Tokyo police chief blames the recent increase in violence on lax gun laws.

I can tell a Japanese person from a Chinese person in a flash. Usually I can tell the difference from behind, without seeing their face.

If you can see their face, it’s easy. Japanese people are pale. Weather in Japan is not the greatest.

No, I don't see that.
Some Chinese have skin that's just a little more brown than ours is. Of course, what we call "brown" is just "dark yellow."
Lots of Chinese people have skin that's essentially as white as ours. Some are even a little bit ruddy.
But there are all kinds. People from the south of China are darker, because there's more hot sunny weather there. Same for people from Hong Kong, Singapore, etc. Chinese people consider Hong Kong, Singapore, Malay people all to be Chinese. At least the ones who have money.

Yup. Every kind of face, every kind of nose, every kind of chin.
Hair and eye color all the same though.
Japanese hair is coarser than Chinese hair.
Koreans have much more angular faces, and their skin is somewhat darker.
Koreans look down on ethnic Chinese, and on ethnic Japanese. In fact, they look down on everyone.
Same can be said for Japanese people.
Chinese people are (from my experience anyway) somewhat more open-minded. They don't like Japanese people very much though. Even the most open minded Chinese people are wary of Japanese people. Very deep feelings there, very deep.

Talk about generalizing . Many women “ prefer “ to keep their skin white as possible . They think it is more beautiful .
Weather not the greatest ? Pray tell how you came to that conclusion ? Yes , we have typhoons - you have hurricanes and tornadoes . Winters are relatively mild compared to northern USA / NE / etc .
If that movie "City Of Life And Death" about the Nanking massacre is making the rounds in China, I would assume those feelings might have been exacerbated.

I use my brain to generalize every day. It's how I survive. So do you, if you're honest with yourself.

GENERALLY speaking it beats the hell out of New York’s weather ! And I lived on Long Island for 14 years before moving to Japan .
I don't recall saying it didn't. In fact, I don't recall mentioning New York at all.
The average New Yorker is surely a few shades lighter than the average Floridian. So what? Do you have a point?
