When Newt Gingrich was running things in the 1990s, gas was 78 cents a gallon. The Contract with America led to years of real prosperity and reduced KKKlintoon to a mere bystander. Go Newt go! Do it again! Crush unions and commies!

FWIW, gas was around $4/gallon in June of 2008. I remember very clearly because I was able to get a killer deal on a nearly new SUV due to the fear of high gas prices that June.

The low prices in the fall were the result of the economic crash that got us the wonderful “leadership” of obama.

LOL!

Under Zero, energy prices must necessarily skyrocket. It's a requirement of his agenda for America.

I remember $0.99 a gallon gasoline as recently as my first marriage and my memory is shot. Of course I also remember $0.18 a gallon gasoline, but that was a while back.

That’s still much lower than most places. The only way I get near that is by using my Kroger card at their stations.

That's pure BS. In the runup to the election, in the last few months the fuel prices took a great ramp up to $3 generally, and up to almost $4 occasionally. I think it had something to do with Bush being an oilman, huge military consumption, and no impact on the out-going prez.

All I know is that I had to stop going 16 miles round-trip to church 3 times a week @ 10 mi/gal, which cost more than I could put in the collection plate then. I had to find another church near me, a mile away.

I paid $3.84 last night in upstate NY, just after looking at pictures of a trip we took in 2004 where in one of the pictures gas is posted at $1.67 in the background.

I did the same thing in early 2009. I found a 5 year old Chrysler 300C in pristine condition, low price and very low mileage. The MPG posted on the window sticker was scaring people away. I’m retired and don’t drive much so I didn’t really care about MPG. It’s my first luxury car and has all the goodies, I couldn’t believe the comfort.

Just a reminder of how terrible things were back when President Bush was in office.

In a way you're right. Gas prices were falling because we were in the middle of a financial collapse at the end of 2008. W sucked as president. His priorities were illegal aliens and Big Government.
