SANTA ANA Irvine attorney Kent Easter walked out of a courtroom in handcuffs Thursday, a day after he was convicted of conspiring with his wife to frame a school volunteer by planting drugs in her car.
A judge had given Easter, 40, less than 24 hours after Wednesdays jury verdict to arrange for care of his three children. On Thursday, Easters attorney asked the judge to let him remain free on bail for several weeks until sentencing.
But Superior Court Judge Thomas Goethals refused, saying the seriousness of the crime warranted him being jailed especially because Easter is an attorney, as was his estranged wife, Jill.

“The dispute with school volunteer Kelli Peters started in 2010, when Jill Easter became upset that their 6-year-old son had been left alone briefly. Jill Easter also misinterpreted Peters comment about the boy being slow to line up as a comment about his intelligence, Deputy District Attorney Chris Duff said.”
Tough judge.
Dirtbags indeed. I hope he enjoys jail.
Correction: WERE attorneys. This will be the easiest disbarment the Bar Court hears all year.
Plus, the intended victim is a volunteer. Not an employee. The work professionalism expectations should be lowered.
I’m about 15 miles from there.
50 years for the both of ‘em, no time off.
I wonder if Stanford has wiped their records...ala Rutgers and Ray Lice...or Maryland and Jason Blair.
Well, for the kids sake I would have given him 72 hours to arrange things and say goodbye!
Other than that, what a dope!
Even if I were so stupid as to want to frame a school volunteer for a serious crime, I wouldn’t have the slightest clue as to where to obtain illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia. The fact that the perpetrators readily had them available says to me that they were using them themselves. It’s probably good for the children that more responsible people will be taking care of them for a while.
