As I have repeatedly said, we live in the Era of Bad Stewards, when everyone in a fiduciary position has concluded their position exists not to serve those whose good or goods they are in theory paid to look after, but to enrich themselves. This applies to corporate CEO and CFOs, legislators, government bureaucrats, university presidents, and even cops -- though it is not primarily self-enrichment that the corruption of honor and fiduciary responsibility leads to in this last case, but the crimes committed under color of law in "defense" of the authority, real and purported, of the police.
