A nurse's assistant in Spain is the first person known to have contracted Ebola outside of Africa in the current outbreak.

Spanish Health Minister Ana Mato announced Monday that a test confirmed the assistant has the virus.

She had helped treat a Spanish missionary who contracted Ebola in West Africa.

The missionary died after returning to Spain.

The news came amid growing fears in the United States that the disease could spread.

How many people in the US have the ebola virus coursing through their veins and simply don’t know it yet....????

The next 2-3 weeks will be interesting indeed... to say nothing about the next 6 months / year....

""It can't happen here."

If Spain beat us, it's not because we didn't try.

theres no way she was treating this patient without protection. Like impossible. So once more the question arises about transmission.
I think the CDC knows less than they admit.

It’s all a wait and see as to it’s spread...but the scientists etc are certainly making a mad rush to find treatments and several now ready to go ....one authorized today and currently Duncan Dallas is taking...time will tell it all that ‘s for sure.

It’s almost a catch 22....if it’s said this treatment is to “help” and patients recover... too many will believe it’s a “cure” and stop being careful.

The missionary died after returning to Spain.

This is the first I even heard of somebody in Spain with Ebola. The governments are sure keeping a lid on the news. I guess it's best to keep the sheeple in the dark...or they might start asking embarrassing questions.

In a controlled environment, with all the precautions in place, transmission occurred.

WE ARE BEING LIED TO.

Bring Out Your Dead

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

The attitude they expressed of our government’s invincible superiority over Africa was shamefully insane. Anyone who has worked for the government knows most of they do is half-a$$ed at best. They are politicizing medicine and that is going to take us down the rabbit hole quick.

They knew before the patient was transported to Spain that he was positive for Ebola, so they should have had all procedures in place before his arrival. That she got it while caring for him is a big red flag.

No...not that I’ve heard...just rumors..He has been on a ventilator which isn’t a good signs...but at least this drug might work even though he’s likely at the end of this...

I doubt he’s going to make it....unless they give him a liver transplant, which his body isn’t going to handle surgery of that nature with what it’s handing now.

Have to see how this these drugs work...

Interesting is some in Liberia have survived it....without these medications....so Duncans overall health will play into his recovery...if he makes it.

And some, though exposed, will never get it.

The mystery of this type of thing.
