Good article, and an accurate rendition of discussing things with atheists.
All good points regarding Naziism and Christianity. Hitler was a total political animal. He said and did whatever he needed to to get elected, while in the background his brown shirts silenced any and all criticism from wherever it came.
Hitler used religious language when it aided him. He believed in a pagan Aryan mythology. The Christian ideal of “loving one’s enemy” was anathema to the Nazi ideal.
Hitler used Germany’s constitution to get elected, then destroyed it once in power. So, you could say Hitler was a “constitutionalist” with as much legitimacy as he was a “Christian”.
As to atheism and communism, you don’t have to be a communist to be an atheist, but to be a died in the wool communist you have to be an atheist, at least ultimately you do, because the state MUST be the primary power, not the individual, not the church, not God.
