Funny when I was a ‘kid’ the only mood altering drugs for kids was a swift kick in the arse..Or nuns with a ruler or tugging by the ears to the cloak room. Usually followed by an encore at home - IF deemed bad enough to inform parents OR if one was dumb enough to say ‘Sister hit me’...’ratting’ Sister out called for an arse kicking at home, then at school the next day for ‘carrying tales home from school’.
We made excellent Sailors, Marines and Soldiers and learned a little respect along the way AND though most youngsters were around guns daily (at least in my neck of the woods) the last thing one would think of doing was go shoot the school up...(well maybe in a ‘wildest dream’ situation BUT they just weren’t done).
I hear you. The nuns were the best thing that happened to me in grade school. Nuns made me study & excel under threat of a good butt-kicking.
