Russia has presented a startling proposal to overcome the tensions with the EU: The EU should renounce the free trade agreement with the United States TTIP and enter into a partnership with the newly established Eurasian Economic Union instead. A free trade zone with the neighbors would make more sense than a deal with the US.

With the support of this administration, I’m sure....
Yeh except Russia’s going bankrupt. LOL!
I’m not sure?
They are not the Soviet Union anymore.
Meaning economically they are now capitalist.
My understanding is that they only have a 13% flat tax. That’s it. No other taxes.
Our economy would boom if we had a 13% flat tax only.
Have you seen Moscow lately?
A bankrupt nation - especially one like Russia - is simply a catalyst for a World War.
This proposal could be viewed in terms of: "Join with us and "play ball" thus saving the senseless slaughter of your youth as we take dominion over the resources we need."
I think eastern Europe would leave the EU before they would agree to this. There are still a heck of a lot of victims of the Soviet Union who would rather make a deal with the devil than a Russian.
The problem is that Russia really only manufactures and sells oil, gas, wheat and some arms. Not a manufacturing powerhouse. I don’t think they have produced a new product since 1973. So their tax rate does not really matter. The ruble is collapsing because everytime oil goes down they get into trouble.
Russia’s GDP is ranked 8th by the IMF and 9th by the World Bank. They come in behind Brazil. Their GDP is on the order of the state of California. For 70 years Russia has put all their money into a military and ignored their infrastructure.
When was the last time you bought a Russian car, truck, tractor, backhoe, excavator, cell phone, computer, watch, etc? See what I mean?
meanwhile, the GCC and singapore and kula lumpur are eating Europe’s lunch
the gateway to Africa is now Dubai
I see a few problems here...first the attitude of the snarky euros....they are drowning and know it and the sanctions against Russia hurt europe more than the US. They hate obola.....HATE him. This could put pressure on an decisions. Obola would welcome this because it will hurt the US and Europe.Add the fact that the mussies are taking over and have termendous influence...we have a big problem.
Where did you learn that? ZeroHedge?
[Russia's] top individual income tax rate is 13 percent, and the top corporate tax rate is 20 percent. Other taxes include a value-added tax (VAT) and an environmental tax. The overall tax burden is 29.5 percent of GDP.
It was called flexibility.
Would not be a bad move for Europe - one BIG DIFFERENCE would be that if Putin promises to defend them, he WILL defend them - unlike another country I know of (as our friends throughout the Middle East learned the hard way starting in 2010).
We have always been at war with Eurasia
-—Russia’s “Startling” Proposal To Europe: Dump The US, Join The Eurasian Economic Union—
During the 2008 financial crisis, Russia approached China to dump Fannie Mae and currently, Russian military doctrine names US/NATO as its adversary. Russia is a threat and US better get its sh*t together
