You're probably going to get flamed for this, but you're right on target here.

I don't understand the fixation so many conservatives have with a U.S. leader attending a silly "march for unity" in a foreign country.

I agree, it’s odd that conservatives expected Obama to show up. I’ll agree his reasons are probably all wrong and likely would outrage most of us. However each of us has to ask ourselves if I was president would I have gone? My answer is no, I wouldn’t have gone.

I certainly wouldn’t flame him! It was another hug-in, feel-good march that will accomplish nothing. And Obama is lazy.

You people are such amateurs.

Let us assume the march was a vapid and useless affair, something I do not stipulate: You STILL must hold your enemy to his own standards. Make no mistake, we are at ideological war. Read Saul Alinsky, and apply his principles against our foe. Alinsky rule #4: “Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules." They are all about "marches for unity"? Good. Crucify Obama for not attending.

And back to my refusal to stipulate that this was a vapid and meaningless affair. On the contrary. It might just be the first stirrings of an anti-Muslim movement.

Agree there’s something not quite right about an American president attending something like this. I also wonder if maybe the French themselves didn’t want him there. There was a report this morning that Hollande urged Netanyahu not to attend saying he would be a distraction. Seems possible he would have similar thinking about a prominent U.S. presence...and I can see Obama agreeing with him.

A silly March for unity, maybe. How about a show of symbolism for the THOUSANDS of Americans murdered by Islamic terrorists? Kobar, USS Cole, Mogadishu, 9/11, Daniel Pearl and others beheaded, Ft. Hood, the recent murders and attacks in America by “lone wolves.” And let’s not forget the thousands of troops who have given life and limb against terrorism. This is much deeper than just a silly March, he is a shame to these people. Does anyone think for one minute that the vast majority of surviving American families would not have been in Paris if they could have? THAT IS WHAT AN AMERICAN PRESIDENT DOES, HE IS A SYMBOL OF ALL THE PEOPLE.

I did not realize that France was part of the US. Their internal self inflicted problem does not require the presence of the president of the US to prance in a stupid dog and pony show. Until France gets rid of its immigrant populations this stuff is going to happen. Since they are too weak to get rid of that population this stuff is going to happen. And because that population is outbreeding them, the country is going to be Islamic in 30 years anyway. Where was the French president after 911? I don’t recall that he even lowered a flag. And why a march at all? These people sat in the cafes and shrugged their shoulders when thousands of Catholics were driven from Mosul or killed.

They called it a “Unity Meeting” but they didn’t invite the person who is the favorite to win the French Presidency in 2017, Marine Le Pen.

That’s what this march was all about, these feeble leaders trying to convince people that they need not vote for the “Extreme Right” to solve their Islam problem.
