Cops are no longer trained to disarm for the very reason that cops get injured and then raise retirements and pension expenses. Further, the legal system is stacked in favor of the cops and require the family to prove wrongful death. That is very difficult to do when the person is armed.

Follow the money and find the reason.

My sentiments exactly. Being within their rights to kill her, and actually deciding to do so, are two different things.

How very brave of them. The odds of her injuring a cop, if handled properly (short of shooting her dead) are next to zero.

Public servants naturally have to put themselves at risk sometimes in the performance of their job. This sort of response is the absolute maximum they could do.

Why not start with something a little less lethal, all thing considered?
