I don’t know that ANY kid EVER going for a job interview has had so many people rooting for him. LOL

Only reason folks on this site are rooting for him is because the job he interviewed for is at Chick-fil-A. No one would care if it were anywhere else. Yes, I get it that the CEO of Chick Fil A took a reasonable position on marriage. So what? It's still a crap fast food joint. This story belongs on Buzzfeed. Jeeze people. Have we made this kid a saint yet?

I don’t give two farts where the job is. I’m surrounded by kids his age and way older who wouldn’t get a job doing ANYTHING ANYWHERE, let alone actually go out on their own and buy a tie to dress up for an interview for a bottom rung minimum wage job.

Sheesh, I’ve seen kids wear pajama pants to graduations and flip flops to funerals.

So this kid ticks two of my boxes, willingness to work and pride in his appearance.

Blame society in general that that’s now something to cheer about rather than the norm!

I love it!! Beats a clip-on tie to an interview. LOL!

Sorry, I just think this story is the dumbest thing ever. I do like the fact that the kid appears to be wearing sneakers, however.

“I just think this story is the dumbest thing ever.”

Thanks to the unveiling of Kanye’s fashion line (his words, not mine), it’s not even the dumbest thing this WEEK. Heh!

“Beats a clip-on tie to an interview.”

I didn’t see Dad in any of the pics so he may not have had anyone to show him how to tie a tie. Besides, I know a few grown men who don’t even know how. I don’t blame a kid for not knowing something they’ve never been taught.

I see it as a kid doing the best he could with what he had. But maybe I’m a glass half-full kind of person. LOL

LOL. True.

Meanwhile, while I'm glad this polite teen has been hired, my own sons have never been. My eldest son applied for several jobs and was never even called in for an interview. His friends are having trouble finding jobs, too, and they're all nice guys. So, I suppose one reason I'm glad this kid was hired is that I'm thinking of all of the other nice kids who are trying to find jobs right now, too.

Chick-Fil-A is the best “fast food” anywhere. It doesn’t even matter what political opinions the owners have. That food is delicious. lol

I’m sorry to hear that and really hope things turn around for them soon. It’s so depressing to hear how many decent people have been hurt by the mess the blithering idiots of this country voted us into. Elections have consequences all right but just for the rest of us, it seems.

On the flip side, we have lots of places hiring here but they can’t find anyone that can pass a drug test. I’ve known kids who flunked the alcohol test. At 8am. With a week’s notice. *eyeroll*

Wow. That's really bad. :-0

My 19yo son feels bad that he never was hired or even called in for an interview, but he's now in college on scholarship. I pointed out to him that, in the end, he earned way more money by studying hard and taking multiple tests than he ever would have by working a full-time minimum wage job. At college he tutors to earn spending money. So, he'll be OK. :-) Now I just have to worry about his brothers...

He shouldn’t feel bad, it’s happening to a lot of people with way more experience. Sounds like the track he’s on will pay off in the end.

My son started in our business and that job led to another and that to another, etc. and he really loves what he’s doing now.

The girl has been able to pick up valuable skills with all of her jobs and courses at school so she has a lot of options open to her already. She loves to weld so always has that to fall back on. (She’s basically a blonde Marisa Tomei in My Cousin Vinny.)

“Now I just have to worry about his brothers...”

It never ends, does it? LOL

I tried very hard not to look but pretty average, I’d say. Mine were better.

I couldn’t care less if it was Chick-Fil-A or the local car wash. I was rooting for him because he dressed decently and IMO that says he wanted this job and was prepared to do what he could to get it.

That's true - the worry never ends. LOL.

Good for her. That character played by Tomei was great. :-)
