Place your bets:

1. Gas leak
2. Meth lab
3. Unemployed Muslim youths

St Marks Place. Maybe a gas leak because there is a restaurant on the bottom.

Wow the flames are red hot. Live feed on CNN.
For some reason the fire department was unable to start a water flow on the building for the first 10 minutes. It’s now spread to a second building.

Judging by the looks of the neighborhood, the explosion must have caused at least $2 million in improvements.

Nothing screams "BLOGPIMP!" like 90+ excerpted threads from one source since the first of the year and only a scant half dozen replies.

Gas leak most likely. Work place accident at muzzi bomb factory second.

Not a meth lab. Meth is as popular as Garth Brooks and NASCAR in NYC.

Unless your blog is on site reporting from there, why not just link to the actual news source instead of to your second-hand blog??

Can any of our New York City FReepers give us an idea of how old those buildings tend to be?

Perhaps built in the 1890s-1910s?
