Driver and passenger bailed and fled into the woods.

Not a good thing to do, it’s a bit hazardous in that area (rattlers, cliffs, etc.).

Thanks for the update. Definitely not a good move (were there any possible for the perp?) at that location. As you noted, a lot of cliffs, and specifically Rattlers! A friend I work with goes up there all the time to his fathers ranch and has told me many tales about the Rattlers in the region.

Perhaps they will avoid a nasty snakebite due to the fact that it's nighttime out there right now, but they have a very small chance of “escaping” the CHP, IMO.
