Not quite -- notice in the example below (and in any other, just google if you want more images) two fingers and the thumb are extended. The statue of the devil at the top of the thread has the two fingers extended and the thumb completely folded over -- this was an ancient Roman symbol which indicated speech. Christians instead extended three fingers when speaking, or preaching, to symbolize the Trinity. Early Christian art contains both, and Christians gradually changed to mostly/exclusively using the three-fingered speech indication. The gesture used by the pope is the one that Christians adopted, the three-fingered. But there is nothing sinister in either the two or three fingered gesture, anymore than placing a big Mac in the hands of a devil statue would render fast food satanic.
