My spirit of adventure ended about 50 years ago when I lit off a bottle rocket on the edge of a box of fireworks.
The rocket fell into the box and I nearly burned down the
neighborhood.!
Your misadventures sound a lot like mine. It is probably a good thing that we didn't know each other back then. My brothers and I launched a homemade rocket right over an open 5-lb coffee can full of our propellant. (Black powder.) I suspect our side affects were very similar.
Mine works pretty well down to single digits, at which point the expensive backup heat strip kicks in. Still keeps the house fairly warm but struggles and the bill is not enjoyable. It’s not an especially fancy model, 13 seer, Trane.
