I think most of them are from Ethiopia, which is one of the places Jews went in the Diaspora. Mixed Semetic and native black (not exactly the same as blacks you see in the USA -— facial features are very distinct — black skin, but lack the flattened nose).
They do practice Judaism, and as their kids go through the IDF, have Orthodox Conversions, so they are, indeed, Jewish.
I wonder what color that Ethiopian eunuch was? He had his own copy of the book of Isaiah and he had been to Jerusalem to worship.....whatever color he was.
