Not all slaveowners were bad. Jackson did break the law to teach his slaves the Bible. Unlike the Left, I don't condemn all those who fought for the Confederacy as evil incarnate.

I don’t know if it was Lee who taught him, but his manservant & cook- Robert Stiles, could read & write. He penned a short but very touching little book called Four Years Under Marse Robert. He went on to found & build several churches after the war.

To easternsky- It’s not that they don’t understand or are ignorant (literally ignorant eg. didn’t learn). When someone tells them & directs them to historical fact, they just keep hammering away at their lies. The abolitionists were outright liars.
