Based upon its current classification by the feds as a Class 1 narcotic, the feds have not allowed any widespread medical testing to take place. I can you first hand that when I use it for back pain and muscle spasms I get near instant relief and not some placebo effect.
It never worked as a pain reliever for me, but I can see how it might for some people.

Except for medically/physically addictive drugs, the key is the addictive personality. The substance is not the issue, the person is.
Indeed. But any effects are just intoxication. Why not just prescribe a snort of some booze to "alleviate" symptoms?
