The Lost generation was the WWI generation, what is lost about gen X?

I dimly recall, from many, many years ago, that what’s now referred to as ‘Gen-X’ was originally called the ‘Baby Bust Generation’. Apparently there was a drop in birthrates after the Boomers; it’s measured from 1965 to 1984 (more or less).

I heard that in the late 80s, before the term ‘Generation X’ gained popular use.

Perhaps the “Forgotten Generation.” They served during the Korean War and up to the early Vietnam era. They were “Forgotten” between the “Greatest Generation” and the goddam Baby Boomers. GenX would probably be their counterpart.
