This is not the original drummer so it’s the fake Journey.
That verse says she has authority over his body, too. If she tells him to stop, he should. Dont try to use Gods word to condone the abuse of a person.
But the particular verse is pretty specific in its instruction. It’s talking about withholding sex and even warns of what happens when you do it. My pastor at the time had some interesting words for my then wife and she was quite angry with him. I learned a lot in those days and my current wife of 17 years is reaping the benefits - as am I.
I’m not “using” God’s word. I’m quoting it. Let the reader understand.
Trying to make a case that God somehow meant we can have non-consensual sex with our wives because "we own their body" turns people away from God.
You are helping to fuel the "my body, my choice" crowd.
No kidding. Who the hell is Deen whoever? Steve Smith WAS Journey’s rhythm section.
You are helping to fuel the “my body, my choice” crowd.
And those destined to accept Christ understand that. Those that are not will NEVER understand.
On a related note, I’m a Christian that believes that the fate of the lost is that the second death is, in fact, death and annihilation. What’s interesting is that when I bring that up in anti-Christian threads on other sites, the anti-Christians start arguing that the bible clearly teaches that the fate of the lost is eternal suffering and they use it as their primary proof that Christianity is nuts.
I mean, their opinion desperately needs the bible to teach that. When I point out that it is a false teaching, their heads explode because the whole dynamic of Him being a LOVING God shifts in their minds.
You are helping to fuel the “my body, my choice” crowd.
The bible says what it says and I make no apologies for it. 1 Corinthians is pretty darned clear, even in the original Greek. Our culture just doesn’t like it and completely misses the wisdom - wisdom which my wife and I embrace and which allows us to live a life of joy that was quite literally beyond my comprehension before we met.
Wife said she had a drumming headache.
She did wait Patiently for her chance to Escape.
Your argument leaves out the “and likewise also the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does” part of the equation.
I’m merely suggesting that both are admonished to always allow the other to meet their sexual appetite via their spouse.
But I’m also addressing the overall point of the verse. It’s about marrying to meet your sexual appetite, as opposed to getting it quenched elsewhere. When you refuse your spouse because “their body is yours”, you are violating the scripture and twisting its meaning. It’s really pretty plain when you think of it as plainly speaking to people like you and me, which it is.
And I am suggesting that you are wrong. The admonishment is to have and show mutual respect. If one spouse is genuinely and honestly simply not in the mood for sex then that spouse is not being admonished to "give in anyway", and the other partner is definitely not being given license to "take it" anyway.

Extreme had some great music before Gary went VH. 3 Sides was one of the finest engineered albums ever.
Did you read why Eddie said he “fired” Gary, because of his stage clothes.
I think Eddie has some loose marbles rolling around, but then don’t all great artist?
Technically, then, Aynsley Dunbar is the drummer for Journey.
