In the middle of the “dot.Com” bubble bust, Carly set HP on a new course by buying Compact/CompuServe thereby setting them up for long term success that they enjoy now. She did “P” off the old guard on the Board of Directors which led to a lot of infighting and her eventual demise as CEO. Time has shown Carly made the right move at the right time.
Accolades.

Credit where it is due,,,,,

She’s well down on my list of favored candidates, but well ahead of a lot of well known “me too, it’s my turn” candidates.

That would be Compaq. And I, for one, am still bitter about the hold Alphacide -> Compaq -> HP -> Bangalore thing. Not *all* of it is her fault, mind you, but still.

Neither purchase is alive today or producing anything of value. Terrible decision.
