Jake Brewer, RIP [husband of Mary Katharine Ham]
HotAir.com ^ | 9/20/2015 | Ed Morrissey

Posted on 09/20/2015 12:40:01 PM PDT by iowamark

It is with great shock and sadness that we offer our condolences and prayers to the family of Jake Brewer, the husband of Mary Katharine Ham, and the father of Georgia and a child on the way, as well as his colleagues and friends at the White House and Change.org. Jake died as a result of an accident while participating in the Ride to Conquer Cancer bicycle rally and fundraiser. He gave his life while trying to help others, a quality that Jake’s friends say is defining about him. Jake passed away yesterday at 34 years of age.

Mary Katharine published this statement on Instagram, along with a picture of their growing family:

We lost our Jake yesterday, and I lost part of my heart and the father of my sweet babies. I don't have to tell most of you how wonderful he was. It was self-evident. His life was his testimony, and it was powerful and tender and fierce, with an ever-present twinkle in the eye. I will miss him forever, even more than I can know right now. No arms can be her father's, but my daughter is surrounded by her very favorite people and all the hugs she could imagine. This will change us, but with prayer and love and the strength that is their companion, we can hope our heartache is not in vain-- that it will change us and the world in beautiful ways, just as he did. If that sounds too optimistic at this time, it's because it is. But there was no thought too optimistic for Jake, so take it and run with it. I will strive and pray not to feel I was cheated of many years with him, but cherish the gift of the years I had. In a life where nothing is guaranteed, Jake made the absolute, ever-lovin' most of his time with all of us. This is a family picture we took a couple weeks ago. It was taken because Jake, as always, was ready with a camera and his immense talent. All four members of our little, growing family are in it. I can never be without him because these babies are half him. They are made of some of the strongest, kindest stuff God had to offer this world. Please pray that he can see us and we'll all make him proud. God, I love him. Psalm 34:18, Philippians 1:3.

Nothing we can add would be adequate to the profound loss and sorrow which Mary Katharine, their families and their friends are suffering at the moment. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of them, and we’d ask our readers to join us. Later, we’ll ask a friend to give us a more complete recognition of Jake’s life, but we do not wish to unnecessarily disturb them during this time of shock and mourning.

God our Father,
Your power brings us to birth,
Your providence guides our lives,
and by Your command we return to dust.

Lord, those who die still live in Your presence,
their lives change but do not end.
I pray in hope for my family,
relatives and friends,
and for all the dead known to You alone.

In company with Christ,
Who died and now lives,
may they rejoice in Your kingdom,
where all our tears are wiped away.
Unite us together again in one family,
to sing Your praise forever and ever.

Amen.

“I helped work on the book that Katherine wrote with Guy Benson, End of Discussion.”

Did you get paid?

I don’t understand how anyone can respect her. It seems just a sham and a career thing.

Like Carvile and Matlin.

It’s fake, using politics as show biz and entertainment to make a living.

It is extremely discomfiting and troubling.

It represents everything wrong with the media and politics today.

So she had married a liberal like Mary Matalyn did— it happens. Too young to be a widow.

Why, because her husband was a lib? (Or so we suppose)?does this automatically disqualify her for her conservative views? Sometimes people are married to people who are of different faiths, ideologies and political affiliation. Does that make them any less committed to what’s important to them?

Are we sure it was an accident? What did he know?

“Why do you think she held that back? Could it be that that simple admission would cost her her easy talking head gig?”

Oh no. Her employers were well aware of this.

It is that it would expose her amorality and cynicism and the emptiness and fakeness of the supposed conservative media.

She would not be credible as the up and coming young conservative Turk.

Now I understand why she always pushes gay marriage so vehemently on Foxnews. She gets her talking point directly from the White House.

That, and her Town Hall buddy Guy Benson is a queer. Queer nation republicans. FNC is all over that.

So let it be a lesson to us somtimes people do things for a living and perhaps their family may be of a different mindset. So shall we institute a litmus test of family affiliations for those that are political analysts?

Yes, but, given their prominent media roles in advocating their political views, it isn't the same as an everyday couple marrying someone of the opposing party.

Are you speaking of Donald Trump?

I hope you are happy with your stepford wife.

Don't try to reason with these midgets. Take a shower, say a prayer, hug a family member, and find something intelligent to occupy your mind.

What the heck kind of sad pile of trash are you? Why does love have to follow some sort of political boundary? Completely inappropriate of people to sit here and act like MKH is some sort of traitor because she married outside her politics. My god, have we become such a sad divided people that in someones loss we question their beliefs?

She would not have her cushy talking head job if she ever made such a disclosure.

As such, she never made one.

Some can see that for what it truly is, while others such as yourself will stay with your head in the sand making excuses. I am done making excuses for people PRETENDING to be my friend or to represent me.

How about a simple disclosure?

It is required in nearly every other professional field.

Yes.

Anyone who wants transparency from those in the political realm are mental midgets.

Ad hominem much?

Love is blind!
I never understood what Mary M saw in Snakehead Carville, or how she could stand living with someone so obnoxious and void of integrity.

A terrible loss and a shame. Prayers to MKH and their child (children, in fact).

I think we assume too much if we think commentators on TV, radio, etc., are monolithic. Just because we listen to a “conservative” talk show, TV station, etc., there’s no guarantee they, or the staff that works for them, are conservative. We do so at our own peril, or disappointment.

Correction, their family. Not they. Of course we would assume they were if they were stating they were.

“So let it be a lesson to us somtimes people do things for a living and perhaps their family may be of a different mindset.”

This is greatly disingenuous, they were not family, but chose to become husband and wife. I will ignore this unnecessary distortion on your part.

Your comment proves my point about making a career of professional political punditry. I’m sure you don’t understand what you did.

Imagine a husband and wife who each owned separate competing companies, but kept it secret from the customers who were lead to believe there was actual independent competition taking place between the two companies.

It’s a ruse.

They make money no matter what and as a benefit, don’t have to actually compete for better prices or quality.

SO sorry for Mary K’s loss, but happy for her that she had found a good man to love and create a family with. Some folks never do find that person for them, or only realize it too late. R.I.P.
