It's the Dollar Menu, take two.
McDonald's hopes it has a catchy, new deal that will be as hugely popular as its Dollar Menu. Starting Jan. 4, the fast-food chain will launch the "McPick 2" menu, which will let customers pick two of the following items for $2: a McDouble, a McChicken, small fries and mozzarella sticks.
The offering has gained the necessary votes from franchisees to make it onto the national menu, and will be available in U.S. restaurants for a five-week run starting Jan. 4. After that, McDonald's said it may change the details of the offering, but that it plans to stick with the "McPick" concept and name....

What are they thinking? Why not just keep the dollar menu they have, make it $1.50 each or two for $2? Those four choices are too restrictive.

I haven’t been to McDonalds now for nearly 20 years.
But I like the fact I’ve seen this now on television and here. And I like the fact the stopped trying to sell the chain as a minority interest, and are back in the mainstream marketing mix.
I’m not criticising the minority marketing because it was aimed at minorities, more like the chain was in my opinion recently, excluding all the rest of America. This is a good move in my opinion.
Might just try this out.
I’ve noticed a trend lately to make the dollar menus really really bad tasting to discourage people from using it. All the FF chains got killed for a while on them because they were so popular but were supposed to be the down menu items for the lowest level consumer.
McDonalds has beaten the “Mc” theme to McDeath. Why do they even have executives? LOL

I’m no math wizard, but I would guess it will be about half as popular as the dollar menu....
Well, as with any promotion, the response and the market will decide if this works for McD.
I’ve heard that franchisees take it in the shorts with these dollar menu and other discounted offers. They may make it up on volume, or if they gain new customers who decide to go back after the promotions are over.
