So what if Trump suggested a database for Muslims?
EEE | 20 NOVEMBER 2015 | EEE

Even if Trump supported a database for Muslims, so what?

I know he didn't, a reporter put words into his mouth to push a false media narrative.

But let's say Trump does support an actual database on Muslims, be it refugees or those already here.

After all the spying on American citizens, their phone records, and leftists support of gun registration (the SAFE Act in NY is a form of database), are all of a sudden we are to believe that leftists care about civil liberties?

Can anyway see how leftists are up in arms over a database on Muslims, but not (white) American citizens?

Only Tea Party conservatives should be spied on.

Seriously, does anyone think it doesn’t already exist in one of our government agencies? (sorry for the double negative)

Tracking US citizens because of religion and not an actual criminal threat would be heading down a very slippery slope. Anyone in favor of this, think for a second: how much power do you really want a Democratic administration to have over monitoring your life? Monitoring people’s religion would certainly be an expansion of the already too broad surveillance that’s going on.

Think too: how are they going to enforce this? They can’t just ask, because people could simply lie. Do they round up people from mosques? At that point, actual terrorists may just worship at home to stay out of the database till they self-detonate.

I’m just really afraid monitoring people based on their religion will come back to haunt Christians and Jews, when the wrong people get in power. I think simply monitoring people coming into the country and mosques for extremism is much more in keeping with the Bill of Rights.

“Dont think Trump would lose any votes if he had said it.”

My thought also. The ONLY WAY Trump loses votes on this issue is if he starts sounding like a Republican again, rather than an AMERICAN...and no sign of that, so far.

If Islam was ONLY a religion, I’d agree with you. They will have options if they don’t want to be tracked.

Every non American citizen should be monitored when they enter the country, refugees, visas, green cards and tourists. They should be monitored until they leave or become American citizens legally.

Watch—after an IS attack killing a bunch of American women and children—when the videos of the bodies come out maybe then Trump’s Idea may not seem so outrageious.

I heard a talk show on the way home and the host was saying it’s doesn’t matter if anyone would care if Trump said it, it matters that he didn’t and they’re pushing it.

Then the host said, “Have you ever seen Trump back off from something he said? No, he’d be doubling down. Yet he tweeted that he did not say this.”

I thought it was an excellent point, who are we going to believe, Trump who never strays or the media who’s full of lies.

I agree that Islam is much more than just a religion—but that is the way this issue is being framed. I just think it sets a dangerous precedent for those of other religions in the future (and expands the government’s control even further).

Valid concern. First we need to dispose of the idea that Islam is a religion...unless they’re willing/able to decouple politics (i.e., bombings) from it.

If the KKK had bombed the World Trade Center, I doubt President Bush would have been posing with one of their Grand Wizards and saying that the WTC bombers do not represent true Klan-ship, but rather were people claiming to be KKK, trying to make the Klan look bad.

Have to catch them red-handed

When they commit crime, jail em and shut down the mosque no need for database.

shut them down one Iman at a time. You know they are preaching jihad.

Has nothing to do with their religion...It's about the ideology...Their goal is not to become part of America...Their goal is to take over America...And for that, they should all be removed from our Country....

The average American does not understand how Islam is also a political and legal system. Most have no idea what things like the caliphate, sharia, jizya, dhimmi, etc. mean. It’s going to be a tough job getting people not to associate Islam with religion. I just don’t know if it’s really possible, because of course there is a religious element to it too.

I foresee a possible time in the future, for example, when a left-wing government wants Fundamentalist Christians and Orthodox Jews monitored and tracked, because of their supposed “hate speech” (anti-gay marriage, etc.) and “intolerant” views. I don’t want them to be able to claim there is a precedent for this.

Isn’t that really what a gun control/owner database is.

99% of gun owners never hurt anyone. But it’s OK in the libs eyes to do this.

What a bunch oh hypocrites.
