This practice was emphasized in Shi’a Islam whereby adherents may conceal their religion when they are under threat, persecution, or compulsion.

The use of taqiyya is the main reason most non-Muslims are so confused about the real nature of Islam — they are constantly being intentionally deceived by orthodox Muslims.

A public dialog is needed regarding the content of the quran, the hadith, sharia law, etc (in other words, the muslim's instructions on how to behave). Most would be surprised regarding their inflammatory/bigoted content. Hopefully, someone (Trump?) will eventually do this. I've seen very little of it so far.
