And where did the carbon come from? From plants pulling CO2 out of the air.

If we’d eaten it, instead of throwing it away, it would have still ended up back in the atmosphere, and then absorbed into a different growing plant.

Yep. It’s called the carbon cycle. Fifth grade science class. And methane fixing bacteria do the same thing with methane instead of CO2.
