I think most people know — deep down — what the “truth” is; but then they mold it, rationalize it and contort it to what they wish it could be. However, although it made take a while, reality (i.e., the “truth”) always prevails.
Most people know deep down what the truth is. The problem becomes when you give voice to that you are beaten down with xenophobe, homophobe, racist, sexist, islamophobe, etc.
You run the risk of having your life ruined, becoming a pariah in your community, losing your job and being unable to secure any other work no matter how demeaning.
It is perilous for anyone to speak the truth without serious repercussions for them.
Until that paradigm changes...
