Regulated, at the time, meant trained. Not regulated, in today’s term.

Yep, kind of like NBC.

Like the Minor v Happersett decision read, we must go back to the nomenclature of the time.

But it only applies selectively here for some reason.

Regulated could also mean equipped in that usage.

I viewed “regulated” in that time not so much as “trained militia” but and in an “organized chain of command”.

To me, the second amendment protects the right to form a militia apart from the control of the government, but also the right to use weapons of your own choice/provision. There was not prohibition of owning a cannon, or even having enough material to support your own army (as a private citizen) as a check on the power of the state as long as your intention was not to overthrow the government of “We the People”. It was to check those who would corrupt the government of “We the People” against those very people.

Regulated, at the time, meant trained

Or disciplined.

In colonial times there were two kinds of militias: 1) selected militia — organized, trained, paid and equipped by the colony (like today's NG) and 2)ordinary militia — men 18 to 45 that were to form the home front security force while the selected militia boys were fighting with the regular army.

Yes...regulated as a clock is regulated. Timing was critical to training with the weaponry of the day. Shots were often fired in volleys, and you couldn’t have sparks flying when people were trying to load.
