They had to leave him lying there until the truck was cleared, which took some time because the people inside the truck were refusing to surrender until the officers shot enough teargas and flash bangs to convince them that they had no other option. Attending to Finicum, in the position he was in, without knowing that there was nobody in the truck that could fire on them would have just been stupid.
