If Hillary wins, the 2020 election would be useless (if it even happens).

Let’s hope we can get a term-limit constitutional amendment passed before all this nonsense starts all over again.

Cruz needs to start worrying about 2018. He did not come close 50% in the Texas primary. I would be worried about getting reelected to the Senate if I was him.

Cruz certainly needs to be thinking along these lines. He’s obviously young.

Not everything he is doing is showing that he’s thinking longer term. He needs to make that shift.

An entire article of foolishness that at last makes sense in the last few sentences.

This might be the stupidest article I have read yet.

If 2016 isn’t set up well to beat the Dems, how could 2020 possibly be any better?

Instead of an old Jewish socialist and an old had who is responsible for Benghazi and about to be indicted....who could they possibly run to make it easier for the GOP to win? I

I think the name GOPLifer says it all. Party above conservatism, Party above country, Party above everything. With this kind of defeatist attitude, the author fits right in.

What garbage.

Cruz and Trump could join forces with the top delegate holder being the top of the ticket. They would definitely win the nomination.

I am sorry...Kasich reminds me of a weasel. Promising amnesty? is he nukin futz? Has he missed that we do NOT want that in any way shape or form?

I’m resigned to Trump in 2016. Cruz in 2020 doesn’t sound so bad, it would give him time to get his act together.

The GOP demanded that Cruz kiss the GOP-e and McConnell’s ring before they would support him over Trump. Cruz basically told them to kiss his azz and refused to apologize to McConnell for calling him out as the liar that he is. Good for Cruz.

If the country is as I think it is, the Rats will lose in 2016. Cruz was just doing well compared to a bunch of others. Nationally, he never has passed what Carson got in November average at RCP. It wasn’t even that high, yet Cruz hasn’t reached it yet. Maybe without Rubio he will.

Cruz needs to STOP listening to the Bush Clan. They have infiltrated his campaign to “use” Ted to help the Establishment take out Trump, and THEN.... to finish off Cruz from within. A twofer of sorts.

Cruz, remember what George Bush said about you? That’s how they really feel about you. The Bush’s are schmoozing you.

They are encouraging Cruz by promising to back him (liars) so he’ll stay in when the numbers aren’t there to support him continuing. Why? Because they need him to whack Trump, and after they’re done.... they’ll whack Ted without batting eye.

I don’t think Cruz will win this thing but as long as he doesn’t alienate too many Trump supporters he only helps himself for the future by campaigning in all 50. It’ll build his organization, raise name recognition, and allow for networking. He’ll win reelection in Texas and if he doesn’t the guy’s a top notch Harvard lawyer. He’ll be fine.

No matter what happens from here on out it’s good for conservatives. Cruz, although imperfect, would represent us well in the general, Trump is winning on a lot of conservative ideals and there will be one hell of a revolt if he abandons them. Even if the party and intervenes and pisses off the base the voters will force reform on them.

Then of course there’s the bonus of seeing Trump vs. team Clinton.

Anyone in the GOP planning now for 2020 have to be planning for the Republicans to lose this election. Reminds me of Romney in 2008 using his surrogates to undermine Sarah Palin during the campaign in order for McCain to lose allowing for his 2012 entry. Remember Steve Schmidt and Nichole Wallace?
