Cruz’s side started this war with the nude pictures. Assuming Senator Cruz was unaware of the ad initially, he should have renounced it the day it came out. I have no idea if the allegations about his infidelity are true. There are no “Monkey Business” pictures of the type that sunk Gary Hart in 1988. Cruz and his side played with fire, and he is now getting burned.

The big lesson — which was obvious quite a few months ago: do not attack Trump. Ever. Beat him on points and policy (if you can) and by getting people to like you. Don’t try to make people dislike Trump. Don’t attack him. It never works, and his counterattack will destroy you.

Wallace, Cruz’s campaign manager, Jeff Roe, paid GQ for the right to use the nude photo of Trump wife. Cruz not only knew, he and Jeff Roe committed a crime by giving that photo to the “Make America Awesome” PAC.
