Start with the premise that any government program is not much more than a job program for bureaucrats. Bureaucrats that usually cannot survive in the real world.

I have read the entire Veterans Administration only as about 10% veteran employees. That means 90% are mostly paper-pushers that are more interested in feathering their own nest. Not Vets.
If that number should be reversed, THAT in itself would damn near clean up the entire system.

Disgraceful!

“I have read the entire Veterans Administration only as about 10% veteran employees.”

Somewhere in the 80’s I made an effort to go to the VA for various reasons and picked up on that. Of particular interest was the counselors were retired lefty teachers and other anti war types.

IMO the VA is worse than worthless, needs to be abolished and replaced with something directly accountable to veterans and/or the military.

I gave up going to the VA for healthcare back in 83. I just remember sitting there for 6 hours than some Indian doctor came out looked at my hand and said he is going to schedule me for surgery in 3 months.

I was there for a stomach virus.
