As long as the Commander & Chief defends America's enemies and lives in denial, events like this will occur again and again.
I still do not understand the response teams’ reaction time and nobody is talking about the 3 hour gap between the first firefight encounter until the final storming of the bar.
I've read that it took a total of 3 hours and that, my friends, is UNACCEPTABLE. So, while I applaud our security forces, police and EMS folks, the response time was horrendous. If you know the active shooter is shooting people, there is no negotiation process or hostage siege. You need IMMEDIATELY to go in there and kill the SOB. This is a topic many might not want to yet address but how many people bled to death when they could have been rescued earlier? I am not trying to show any form of disrespect for the victims or SWAT teams but...3 friggin’ hours??????
That time lag bothers me as well. I thought the current protocol was not to try to negotiate but rather to storm the place right away. He milled people during that 3 hr gap, if I recall correctly.
I meant *killed*.
If the entire event were orchestrated beforehand from the White Hut, would the 3 hour lag make sense then?
Orlando Police Chief John Mina visited the White House in April.

Before becoming chief, he was on the SWAT team for 17 years, and was a commander.

Btw, I’ve posted this info on several threads. In EVERY instance, my account mysteriously logged off before I could hit the post button, and I had to try multiple times before it “took.” This is the second time tonite. I’ll try again this time.
And several days ago, when I logged on, instead of seeing “Welcome back, mumblypeg,” I was greeted with “Welcome back, An Anonymous Lurker.”
That’s not me, and there’s no FReeper account by that name.
I agree.....then the shooter went Rambo through the blown holes
This wait stuff is so Columbine
We need military response teams
The doctors to me are the biggest stars.....amazing....
Similar thing happened with Columbine. The cops milled around outside while the shooters were still firing. One of them had a clear (albeit 60 yards with a handgun) shot at one of the perps when he stepped outside, didn’t take it, and then was pissed when he was asked about it.
I’m still curious about the police response too, Netz.
Exactly WHEN were most of his shots fired? I doubt he killed all 49 people in the initial firefight at the door. Once inside I understand he did a lot of shooting but details are vague. And I likewise doubt that he did the bulk of the killing in the closing minutes of the event.
Apparently, police retreated when the crime became a hostage situation, or so I’ve read. Understandable, in a way. Hostage negotiation SOP.
But if shots were being fired DURING the hostage negotiations — even one, single shot — then police had to know he was shooting hostages and they should have stormed the place with all available speed. And if multiple shots were being fired throughout the three hour standoff, then something is hideously wrong here. Not to mention those who bled out during that long interval.
Yeah, we need more details about this one.
