I too liked the cops better in the old days when all they wore was a belt, walkie talkie, baton and pistol. Now, so many criminals are armed much better and with more firepower that cops do not stand a chance in a surprise ambush.

If so, then the same applies to non-cops. However, non-cops don't get to arm themselves like your soldier-cops, or the soldier cops will arrest them.
