Inappropriate, imo.

She has no experience as a waitress, jobs are very hard to come y in Maine so she is taking a job that might have gone to someone who really needs it. And who will say no to the Gov’s wife?

Maybe, but think about it. A good waitress can bring in more business, creating more staff jobs overall. Is she that good? Does she have a great personality? I don’t know. But it’s part of the calculus.

Or it could be a feather-bedding job, but those jobs aren’t typically waitressing.

There are plenty of jobs in Maine during the summer. The place is crawling with tourists. Anybody who really wants to work should be able to find a job.

The unemployment rate there is probably high because so many of them in Maine get paid under the table. When the governor required welfare recipients to either go to school or do volunteer work for 20 hours a week the welfare rolls were more than cut in half. That's because many on welfare were really working and not reporting their income.
