Give it back to Maryland. No senators, 1 congressman

I’ve seen no such thing (as a heavy Facebook user).
Their pattern matching algorithm has pegged you as interested in the subject, so you’re getting it.
No Facebook conspiracy.

They should reduce the District of Columbia to the core area of federal government buildings, monuments and museums

...then give the rest of the city back to Maryland (from which it was taken)

...the part that was taken from Virginia was already given back (Arlington, Alexandria)

In my opinion, the issue of District of Columbia residents lacking congressional representation, can easily be solved.

Pass a law which repatriates the residential areas of D.C. back to Maryland. That way, those people would vote in Maryland, and be part of Maryland. They would vote for Maryland’s senators and be part of Maryland’s congressional districts.

The constitution provides for a federal district, but the boundaries of that federal district can be changed by appropriate legislation, and not a constitutional amendment. At least that is my understanding. The portion of the District of Columbia which was given by Virginia was repatriated back to that state in 1846, so there is legal precedent for such a move.

Under such a plan, the District of Columbia would be redefined as a much smaller region, perhaps encompassing the Capitol, the White House, the Supreme Court building, various congressional and federal office buildings, national monuments. The redefined District would not have permanent residents.

If they make New Columbia, as opposed to Old Columbia where most of the New Columbia residents came from, where will they move the Federal government to? It sure has hell can’t remain in one of the states.

Move the us capital to Puerto Rico then. Maybe if the dc regulars get a better look at the train wreck down there they will rethink their agenda?

The opposite of make a state was in the late 1980’s were leftist goofballs came up with the idea of turning many of the plains states in “buffalo commons” where about 10 states would revert back to native prairie where the buffalo could return in vast numbers. These states ranged from North Dakota down to Texas with a few on either side.

The vile hatred of the lefties for flyover country even went so far as the 1989 Rand McNally atlas simply left out North Dakota, South Dakota & Oklahoma.

The left has never been forward thinkers. Think of the food and oil loss if this ever happened?

I suspect the fact that most of these states typically vote red was the real reason.
