5 people most likely to ruin your beach vacation

The only thing wrong with your beach vacation may be the people you have to share it with.

The majority of people take an annual beach trip — 56% took one in the past year and 58% say they plan to do it in the coming year, according to a recent survey of more than 11,100 people released by travel site Expedia — and they shell out a lot of cash when they take them. Fully 40% of people say they will spend between $1,001 and $3,000 dollars on their next beach trip and another 21% will spend upwards of $3,000 on their beach trip, the Expedia survey revealed.

But while they’re taking these pricey vacations to get some much-needed R&R — the No. 1 way beachgoers say they indulge themselves while on a beach vacation is to “relax and do nothing” — they often find that this isn’t possible, thanks to their fellow sunworshippers who act in ways that are disturbing to others.

governor calls for state of emergency.

Residents and tourists describe the sludge as "guacamole-like" with an odor like "dead, rotten fish."

"It smells like death on a cracker," nurse Cyndi Lenz told the Tampa Bay Times. Morgues don't smell as bad, she added.

God help me. I’m about to argue that sometimes beach access fees might not be a bad thing.

I travel to the Mayan Riviera in October before the touristo season begins. Paradise! And cheaper than dirt with the pesos trading at 18 to a buck. I won’t tell you which beaches are the best secrets though. ;^)

That is in Cozumel which is a touristo trap. Head to Tulum abd south for the undisturbed surf...

I’m trying to find a cheap deal in Binz like last year but with all the terror attacks people aren’t going to N.Africa or Turkey. Might be at some small fishing village next month - LoL!

Brrrrrr! What are the water temps at the beach there? Save a little more money and visit sunny México. Tge Mayan Riviera has no narko-kartels, just gringos partying hearty!

Woohoo, Something else I’m out of step with. I’m the “minority” who has never, ever taken a family beach vacation. I live 2 hours away from a huge east coast beach town. I spent the last two days on the Jersey Shore, mostly 100 yards form the ocean. Never even looked at it. Oh yea, I was working.

Beaches do absolutely nothing for me.

My idea of a beach "vacation" is a trip to White Sands National Monument. lol

My ideal road trip takes me from North Texas to Reno, with stops in Tucumcari, Four Corners, Kanab (with 4 NP's within a two hour drive from there), Rachel NV (back gate of Area 51).

From Reno (sister lives there), she's a few hours from Napa, while Grand Junction CO with its two dozen wineries is easily found on the Interstate heading back to Texas.

There's also several grand wineries in Lubbock, friendly folks with excellent wines at incredible prices. The Riesling at Llano Estacado is as pleasing to the palate as any Mosel Spatlese or Auslese that I enjoyed during my 4 years in Germany.
