How much does India spend per pupil? Their students seem to come out of high school more skilled than ours do. I’ll grant that college doesn’t improve things much except for a tiny fraction of students, but before that, I’d bet on an Indian kid over a US kid in a skills test.
Of course, their “kindergarten” starts a year before ours does, and kids there are already doing very basic algebra by the time they’re 6 or 7.
The USA K-12 is a disaster when compared to other countries. Our problem is NOT MONEY...there is plenty of that in our schools in general. Especially states like California. The problem is LIBERAL LEFTIST MANAGEMENT and UNIONS — no news flash there. We know the story.
Defund education as much as possible. Should be zero from the Feds.
Education today is mostly just taxpayer funded daycare. For most, College is just daycare with sex and alcohol.
Since the education field is so extensively communist, funding it effectively funds communists.
There must be something in “The Art of War” about not funding your enemies.
We have some problems like this up in Washington State. I, personally, have voted down every bill designed o raise money for the schools since I moved up here. It isn’t because I am not compassionate about education. It is because the state is hiding where the school tax money is going. And when he annual audit is run by state representatives, not an independent agency, so they are not telling the people where the current money is going. Just that they need more. That would be like you writing a letter to the IRS telling them you didn’t make any money this year so please send me some more.
