The overwhelming majority of Mexicans is comprised of American Indians and mixed-breed Mestizos. Almost two-thirds of the population is Mestizo.

You are correct, about Benito Juarez. He was 100% Indian and educated by the Jesuit Monks.
He is the hero of Mexican history but oddly racial prejudice is alive and well in Mexico. My wife is from Mexico, upper class, and is darker than her sisters. In social functions her lighter sisters were much more acceptable that her.
That is the reality of Mexico in the past and today.
