The Minneapolis, Minnesota paper Star & Tribune blocks comments all the time. They will edit comments too if they do not agree with want the paper wants to say is the truth when the commenters can clearly see thru the BS and say so. The paper then deletes the comments and leaves in the happy talk.
I first noticed it big time when Ted Kennedy died and there were several hundred people commenting on what trash he was. The next morning they were gone and replaced by positive comments about him.

Of course we know sites, including this one, will remove messages which contain profanity, or are patently offensive, threatening, or inciting violence.
But some sites have moved far beyond that concept, and are censoring opinions which don’t agree to their views.
But that defeats the whole purpose of message boards, and sharing opinions, in my opinion. They want to shut down debate entirely.
