To many of us it doesn’t seem so very long ago, but caring that George Herbert Walker Bush is voting for Clinton in 2016 is kind of like caring who Adlai Stevenson was supporting in 1980.

Adlai Stevenson was never president. Little difference there.

GHW Bush ought to be a revered senior statesman of our party, and does sort of hold that title by default, so there is an ill effect, albeit a negligible one.

Only if you'd supported Stevenson to later find he was the opposite of what he'd pretended to be.
